Meltzer Makes Big Saves in Scoreless Tied with Gwynedd

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - The Delaware Valley men's soccer team ends in a scoreless deadlock with Gwynedd Mercy University on Monday evening.

Through a scoreless battle in the first half, a yellow card was dealt to Rourke Watson in the 43rd minute. In the final seconds, Billy Meltzer was tested and came up with a big-time right-arm save to keep the game knotted at zero. The Aggies led the first 45 minutes with eight shots to Gwynedd's four, but Meltzer was the only goalie tested making a pair of saves. DelVal also led in fouls 7-0.

Meltzer made another big save as the ball rebounded to Gwynedd's Braedon Kehan at 53:25 on his way to record his first collegiate 90-minute shutout. Most of the second half was back and forth with the shot total being 20-14 with Danny Henson leading the squad with seven. Three Aggies played all 90 minutes including Bennett Nordhoff, Andrew Grunwald, Justis Simmonds.

Following the tie, the Aggies move to 3-4-2 and next take on Penn State Berks on Wednesday, October. Kickoff at Robert A. Lipinski Field is set for 6:00 p.m.
