Doylestown, Pa. – The Delaware Valley men's soccer team gave up two leads and ended in a 2-2 deadlock with Arcadia University on Wednesday night.
Both teams traded shooting opportunities over the first 20 minutes of action before DelVal struck first. A corner kick was inserted and after bouncing around by multiple defenders, Rourke Watson buried the ball in the back of the net at 24:33, tallying his first point and goal of the season. Arcadia controlled after the kickoff and scored just 24 seconds later beating Aggie keeper Liam Morris to his left 25 yards out to tie the game. The Aggies retook the lead in the 33rd minute when Andrew Grunwald passed in down inside the 18 to Danny Henson who beat a defender and chipped the ball over the challenging goalkeeper, notching his third goal this season.
Steven Warren tied the game at two with a header goal of a corner kick at 55:11. The Knights hemmed DelVal in their own zone for much of the second half, outshooting the Aggies 12-3 and Morris made all five of his saves in the final 45 minutes. Pierce Marks was given a yellow card in the 87th minute to wrap up the game.
The draw moves Delaware Valley to 3-8-3 overall and 0-3-1 in the MAC Freedom conference. The Aggies next play on Saturday, October 21 at Misericordia. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Dallas, Pa.
