Chester, Pa. - After going down 2-0, the Delaware Valley women's soccer team rallied with three unanswered goals to take down Widener University on Tuesday night.
Aggie keeper Viola Anderson was busy early, making five saves in the first 15 minutes of action. Anderson made eight saves in the first half as the Pride spent most of the time in the DelVal zone and outshoot the Aggies 12-2. Jess Williamson fired the two shots, and both sailed wide.
The Pride scored just three minutes into the second half when a corner kick came in and bounced to Brynn Foley for the goal. Widener increased their lead in the 54th minute as Alyssa Carman chipped a turn-a-round shot over the jumping keeper Anderson. The Aggies answered just three minutes later with Savannah Rennix picking the top right corner, her team-leading 16th goal of the season. After a lot of pressure from the Pride, Jess Williamson knotted the game a 2-2 with her 13th goal of the season over the head of the goalie. Eight minutes later with the Aggies pushing, a shot by Kailey Horton was deflected into the net by a defender for an own goal to win it for DelVal.
With the victory, DelVal improved to 7-5-2 overall (0-1-1 MAC Freedom) and return to MAC Freedom play on Saturday, October 14, taking on Lebanon Valley College at 1:00 p.m. in Annville, Pa.
