DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team dropped its 2022 home opener 3-0 to the University of Scranton in a non-conference affair under the lights on Tuesday night. 

The Aggies (1-1) and the Royals (1-1) played a tightly contested first half under a light drizzle with slick turf conditions. Scranton held a narrow 3-2 edge in shots on goal and a 2-1 edge in corner opportunities in the first half. 

The visitors broke the scoreless tie in the 50th minute when they earned their third corner kick of the game and Patrick Walls Kelly cashed in. Adam Havens sent the corner to the far post where Walls Kelly elevated and directed a head ball back across the goal mouth, off the far post, and into the net for the 1-0 lead. 

DelVal had two shots on target in the second half but could not break through. The Royals made it a two-goal game in the 71st minute on an unassisted tally from Tyler Colton and put the game away when Havens scored off a nice left foot from 18 yards out with five minutes left in regulation. 

The Aggies will look to bounce back on Saturday September 10th when it travels to take on the University of Valley Forge at 11 a.m.
