Women's Soccer Earns Convincing 4-0 Victory At Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team earned its second shutout in as many games and posted four goals, including three from Jess Williamson, in a 4-0 non-conference triumph at Gwynedd Mercy on Thursday afternoon.

The Aggies improved to 6-3-1 overall while the Griffins fell to 2-6-3.

DelVal needed just three minutes, 26 seconds to get on the board with a set-piece play. The Aggies earned a free kick from 25 yards out and Gill Baker drove it under the bar and out of the reach of the keeper for her third goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.

In the 27th minute, Williamson was dragged down in the box and earned a penalty kick. She made no mistake as she went high to the left side of the net to double the advantage. DelVal controlled play all half as it out-shot the home team, 11-0.

The Aggies got their third set-piece goal of the game in the 59th minute and again it was Williamson that cashed in. Kara Kramer delivered a corner kick into the box and Williamson got to the loose ball and buried it into the open net. Shortly after, Williamson took a pass from Marley Bramsway deep in Gwynedd territory, got behind the defense and slid another one passed the keeper to complete her first hat trick of the season and cap the 4-0 victory.

DelVal racked up 26 shots, eight on goal, compared to four shots and three on goal for the Griffins. The Aggies held a 3-2 edge in corner opportunities. Williamson upped her team-leading totals to 12 goals and 28 points on the season while Baker scored her third of the year and Bramsway earned her third assist.

Three different keepers saw time in net for DelVal including Sierra Hahn and Nicole Shisler who made their collegiate debuts. Hahn recorded three saves in the win.

The Aggies will open Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play on Saturday, October 1 at Lycoming College at noon.
