Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Fornwall's Goal Lifts Men's Soccer To 2-1 Road Win At Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN (Nj.) – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team got back in the win column with a 2-1 non-conference victory at Centenary thanks to a game-winning tally from first-year Brandon Fornwall.

The Aggies moved to 2-2 overall with the win while the Cyclones fell to 0-3-2.

Dan Arone gave DelVal a 1-0 lead with a highlight reel goal in the 34th minute. Arone stepped into a bouncing ball just outside the 18 and blasted it into the top right corner of the net for his team-leading second goal of the season.

Centenary fired back less than two minutes later with an unassisted tally from James Alain and the game was tied 1-1 at the half. The Aggies held a 13-9 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in shots on goal through 45 minutes.

DelVal found the game winner in the 79th minute off a well-executed critical set piece play. Danny Henson threw the ball in deep inside Cyclone territory and sent it into the box. Two head balls from the Aggies worked the ball to the far post where Fornwall was in position to deposit it into the net for the 2-1 lead. Colin Heisler go the second header that setup the goal and earned the assist. It was the first collegiate points for both Fornwall and Heisler.

Centenary got three shots down the stretch, but none on target and DelVal held on for the 2-1 triumph.

Henson had five shots and two on goal for the Aggies and Bennett Nordhoff had a team-high four shots on goal. As a team, DelVal had an 11-6 edge in shots on goal for the game and keeper Andrew Roberto made five saves in 90 minutes played.

The Aggies will travel to Valley Forge for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest on Tuesday, September 20.
