ASTON (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University field hockey team secured its second-straight non-conference victory with a 2-0 road triumph at Neumann University on Saturday afternoon.
The Aggies (2-2) dominated play as they outshot the Knights (2-2) 24-5 with a 17-1 edge in shots on goal and an 8-4 advantage in corner opportunities.
The game was scoreless through the first half of play with DelVal owning a 14-0 edge in shots through the first 30 minutes.
Near the end of the third quarter, the Aggies got two goals in a span of 5:14 from two of their promising first-year players. Kenzie Boyd got her first collegiate goal 5:09 into the second half on an unassisted tally before Kaylee Hartung found the back of the cage for her first career goal. Senior TJ Smith earned the assist on Hartung's goal, her second assist of the year.
The defense did not allow another shot the rest of the game and DelVal cruised to its second win in a row.
Smith led the Aggies with seven shots on goal and Sydney Keagle recorded four. Alyssa Rudd earned the win in the cage as she was called upon for one save.
DelVal will look to make it three straight on Wednesday, September 14 at 4:30 p.m. at Bryn Mawr College.
