Men Take Fifth, Women Finish Seventh In Outdoor Track And Field Meet Hosted By West Chester

WEST CHESTER (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams faced stiff competition of primarily Division II schools at the West Chester University Golden Ram Invitational on Saturday.

The men's team finished fifth out of nine teams with 34 team points while the women took seventh out of nine programs with a score of 22 points. Wilmington (Del.) won the men's team title with 166 points and Millersville earned the women's team title with 259.5 points.

In the men's 100-meter dash, Matt O'Dunlami led the squad with a mark of 11.85 seconds and teammate Moses Madison finished less than half a second behind at 11.99 seconds. They earned 16th and 17th, respectively, out of 27 student-athletes.

Logan Cooper had the best finish of the day for the men with a sixth-place showing in the men's 200 meters. The junior finished less than a second behind leader, Vincent Ohenhen, of Staten Island who won with a mark of 22.66 seconds.

Justin Kaufman also earned a top-10 finish out of 27 competitors in the men's 200-meter with a time of 23.69 seconds.

In a field of 12 in the men's 400-meter, senior Dontae Mason took fourth overall with a time of 52.35 seconds.

Senior Ethan Berberabe ran the men's 800-meter in 2:14.71 to take 13th out of 16. Meanwhile, first-year Adam Coleman clocked a 1:03.67 in the men's 400-meter hurdles. A 4x400-meter team of Ethan Berberabe, Adam Coleman, Logan Cooper, and Matt O'Dunlami ran a 3:37.79 to finish fourth out of five teams.

In the field, Brandon Perot impressed in the men's discus, taking second out of eight with a throw that went 129 feet, 2 inches (39.38 meters). He finished just behind the leader, Jordan Cheaton of Goldey Beacom who reached 40.57 meters.

In the shot put, Perot took sixth overall with a toss of 36 feet. 1.5 inches (11.62 meters) while senior Javon Speid reached a personal-best mark of 36 feet, 1.5 inches (11.01 meters) to earn ninth out of 14 athletes.

First-year Billy Mayer competed for the first time in the men's javelin and reached 121 feet, 8 inches (37.09 meters).

 

On the women's side, Chante Newman competed in the women's 100-meter and 200-meter and finished with marks of 14.67 seconds and 31.27 seconds, respectively.

In the 400-meter finals, Alysia Joseph took sixth out of 11 runners with a time of 1:04.94 and Alyssa Blackmon took ninth at 1:09.87 seconds.

Blackmon bounced-back in the women's 800-meter with a time of 2:40.08 to earn 12th out of 22.

Sarah Mullen impressed in the women's 100-meter hurdles as she earned second place out of four with a time of 17.06 seconds. Mullen also competed in the 400-meter finals and took third with a time of 1:15.63 seconds.

First-year Kaitlyn Jones competed in the women's hammer throw and took 10th out of 15 with a throw that reached 106 feet, 2 inches (32.35 meters).

Lauren Yost rounded out the Aggie women with a throw of 80 feet (24.38 meters) in the women's javelin throw.
