Men's Lacrosse Falls To Misericordia At Home

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team played its first home Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest of the year, but it was visiting Misericordia University that controlled play and earned a 20-7 win.

The Cougars (8-2, 2-0 MAC Freedom) needed just five seconds to get on the board as faceoff man Garrett Heidecker won the draw clean, raced down the field, and beat the keeper low. They went on to score six more in the first quarter and held a 7-0 lead after one.

The Aggies (3-7, 1-1 MAC Freedom) surrendered two man-up goals early in the second, but responded with a man-down goal from Travis Berman and shortly after, a man-up goal by Brandon Keller.

Misericordia got one back before the end of the half and took a 10-2 lead into the break. The second half was much of the same with the visitors outscoring DelVal, 10-5, to earn the 13-point victory.

Eight different players registered a point for the Cougars led by Robert Wagner's three goals and four assists for seven points. Matt Coates earned the win in goal with eight saves.

Jim Murphy played all 60 minutes between the pipes and made 13 saves for the Aggies while Brandon Keller led the offense with two goals and one assist for three points. Napieralski also had three points with one goal and two helpers. Berman scored twice and Christopher Marren and Lucien St. Onge each had a goal and an assist.

DelVal will look to bounce back on Wednesday at Stevens Institute of Technology at 7 p.m.
