Men's Lacrosse Overcome At Home By Kean

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team hosted Kean University under the lights on a blistery cold Tuesday night and fell behind 4-0 early before dropping a 16-3 non-conference decision.

The Aggies (1-3) out-shot the Cougars (3-0), 5-4, in the first stanza but it was the road team that held a 3-0 lead after one. Nick Thorne scored an unassisted tally 1:31 into the second quarter, his first of the game, to make it a 4-0 lead.

DelVal capitalized on a man-up opportunity as Brett Ziegler scored off a feed from Chris Marren with 9:30 left in the half. Kean outscored the Aggies 4-2 the rest of the half to take a five-goal lead into the break. The Cougars held a 12-10 advantage in shots on goal going into the second half, but DelVal forced 15 turnovers and gave the ball over seven times.

In the second half, Kean outshot the Aggies 17-5, forced 17 turnovers, and outscored the home team, 8-0, en route to a 13-point victory.

Four different players had three-point games including Nick Moffa with two goals and one assist to go with a game-high 11 ground balls and 14-of-22 faceoff wins. Brady Moore had a team-high seven shots on goal and finished with two goals and an assist. Michael Yukas made 12 saves in the win.

Jim Murphy and Ryley Savering split time between the pipes for DelVal and had seven and six saves, respectively. Ziegler finished with two goals and Brandon Keller added one in his first game back. Michael Florig had a team-high five caused turnovers with seven ground balls.

The Aggies will look to bounce-back on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Hood at home.
