Owen Wins 5K to Lead Men's and Women’s Track and Field at Oscar Moore Invitational

GLASSBORO (NJ)--- Sophomore Carter Owen took home first place in the men's 5,000 meter race to pace the Delaware Valley men's and women's track and field teams in their outdoor season opening meet at Rowan University in the Oscar Moore Invitational.

Owen ran 17:23.03 to take home the only first place finish for the Aggies on the day, beating the second place time by 11 seconds.

In the men's 400 meter dash, Logan Cooper finished in fourth place with a time of 51.10, while teammate Justin Kaufman finished close behind in sixth place, running 51.59. Donate Mason ran 53.88 to take home tenth.

The men's 4x400 team of Justin Kaufman, Matthew O'Dunlami, Dontae Mason and Logan Cooper finished in third place with a time of 3:27.76.

Matt O'Dunlami took home 11th place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.36.

In the women's javelin, Lauren Yost finished with a personal record throw of 28.91 meters to finish in 6th place.

Brandon Perot threw 12.51 meters in the men's shot put, good for a 10th place finish.

Sarah Mullen qualified in the 100 meter hurdlers with a 16.46 before finishing in the finals with a 16.14 to finish in 8th place.

Alyssa Blackmon had good showing in a pair of events, finishing in eighth in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 11:53.25 and taking home 11th in the 1,500 meter, running 5:29.20.

Kelly Hastings ran 2:42.31 in the 800 meter, good for a 13th place finish.

Head coach Tim Wilson was happy to get the season underway.

"Today was a great day for us to shake the rust off," Wilson said. "There were a lot of good races, but overall still a lot of room for improvement."

The Aggies will head to the Ramapo College Invitational on Friday, April 1st for their next event.
