DOYLESTOWN (PA)--- The Delaware Valley University baseball team took on FDU-Florham in their home opener to wrap up their Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opening series and fell 13-5.
The Devils (10-3, 3-0) got the bats rolling quick, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning with a two-run homerun by Tommy Moore and an RBI single by Matt Nodoro.
After a scoreless second inning, FDU-Flohram tacked on four runs in the top of the third with a sacrifice fly, a passed ball and a two-run double to lead 7-0 after three innings.
They kept the foot on the gas in the top of the fourth when Moore belted his second longball of the game, this one a three-run shot, to extend the lead to 10-0. The Devils scored two more in the inning with an RBI single by DJ Gonnelli and a run-scoring double by Dylan Hode.
The Aggies (5-6, 0-3) got on the board in the seventh with five runs, started off by a Reese Hackett RBI single. Tyler Mellinger drew a based loaded walk and Blake Ramos followed with an RBI single to make it 12-3. Bobby Bright brought in the fourth run with a fielder's choice and Ramos scored the final run of the frame when he scored on a wild pitch.
FDU-Florham starting pitcher Christian Capuano picked up his second win of the season for the Devils firing six scoreless innings allowing just two hits and a hit batsmen while striking out 11.
Tyler McCulloch went 4-for-5 with three runs scored for the Devils and Tommy Moore finished 3-for-6 with a pair of homeruns, three runs scored and five RBIs.
Zak Clark threw three scoreless innings in relief for DelVal, allowing a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.
The Aggies return to action Tuesday, March 22nd at home against Gwynedd Mercy at 3 p.m.
