Four Different Aggies Score in Field Hockey’s 4-0 Victory at Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE (Pa.)--- The Delaware Valley field hockey team had four different goal scorers, one in each quarter, in their 4-0 win at Wilkes on Wednesday night in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play.

The win was the third in a row for the Aggies and moved them to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in MAC Freedom play.

DelVal wasted no time to strike first. Just 3:35 into the game, Kaylee Hartung dribbled to the right of the cage and just before the ball crossed over the goal line, the first year passed in front and TJ Smith was there to score her third goal of the season to put the Aggies up 1-0.

With just over four minutes left in the first half, the Aggies generated a corner. Sadie Strober ended up with possession toward the top left of the circle before sending one toward the cage. Kenzie Boyd waited in front to knock it home, giving DelVal a 2-0 lead heading into the break.

The 2-0 lead held for the first 11 minutes of the third quarter until the Aggies added on. After Wilkes' goalie Carly Eidle made a pair of saves in the matter of a few seconds, Susan Rawding was positioned right in front of the cage to knock in the rebound to extend the lead to 3-0 after three quarters.

Five minutes into the fourth, DelVal put the finishing touches on a flawless night, as Sadie Strober received a pass from Sydney Keagle at the top left of the circle and ripped home the final goal of the night for the Aggies.

The Aggies outshot the Colonels 11-7 on the night and 9-2 over the first three quarters. Alyssa Rudd made four saves in goal for her second consecutive shutout and fourth of the season.

DelVal returns to action Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest against King's. The Monarchs are tied with the Aggies at 2-2 in MAC Freedom play in the fifth and final playoff spot.
