DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University field hockey team played a hard-fought battle through three quarters in its home opener, but Albright College broke the game open with three goals in the final stanza to pull away with a 4-0 non-conference victory.

Neither team scored in the first quarter, but on the Lions (1-2) third corner attempt of the game, early in the second, Amanda Smith pounced on her own rebound in tight to give the visitors the 1-0 lead. 

The Aggies (0-3) played their best out of the halftime break as they outshot Albright, 4-3, in the quarter, but neither team cashed in. 

The Lions scored twice in 73 seconds early in the fourth with Megan Keller and Olivia Lorah getting the tallies and Laurel Gingrich picking up an assist. With just under four minutes left in the game, Chelsea Johnson found the back of the cage for the 4-0 final. 

Seniors TJ Smith and Gillian Nardelli had two shots on goal and Alyssa Rudd made 11 saves for DelVal. Adele Thomas earned her first win of the season in the cage with seven saves for Albright.
