Aggies Drop MAC Freedom Contest To Stevens

GWYNEDD VALLEY (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University hosted Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom front-runner Stevens Institute of Technology, at Gwynedd Mercy University, and dropped the home-away-from-home contest in three sets, 25-16, 25-20, and 25-16.

The Aggies (2-8, 0-4) were held to just 16 kills through the three matches as the Ducks (12-2, 3-0) racked up 45 kills and dug out 38 attempts.

In the second set, DelVal trailed 7-1 but used an 11-4 run to take a one-point lead, 12-11. After a pair of spurts from each squad, the Aggies maintained an 18-17 lead before Stevens scored eight of the last 11 points to earn the 25-20 win. The Aggies got out to a 4-2 lead to start the third set, but the Ducks came back with a 4-0 run to take the lead for good and cruise to the match victory. 

Olivia Deffendall led DelVal with seven kills on 28 attempts. Senior Reilly Green, in her second action of the season, led the team with three blocks and added a pair of kills. Grace Kane paced the team with 11 digs and three service aces and Caitlin Nemil had 15 assists. 

The Ducks got kills from 12 different players with Ava Smithing leading the way with seven. Liz Patterson had three service aces and finished with six kills while Elizabeth Chu had 14 digs and Kathleen Riegner had 21 assists.
