Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Battled Immaculata, But Dropped A Pair Of Matches In Tri-Match

IMMACULATA (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University women's volleyball team travelled to Immaculata University on Saturday for a tri-match agaisnt the host Mighty Macs and Washington College of the Centennial Conference. The Aggies took Immaculata to five sets, before falling, 15-13, in the fifth, and dropped the match against Shorewomen in three sets. 

Olivia Deffendall had 17 kills in the opening match against the Mighty Macs to lead DelVal and Gretta Schneider followed with 11 kills and two service aces. Grace Kane was stellar defensively with six blocks and 26 digs to go with two service aces, and Emma Helverson joined her with five blocks and a team-high six service aces. Caitlin Nemil dished out 40 assists and had 12 digs. The Aggies won the first game 26-24, but dropped the next two, 25-23 and 25-17. With their backs against the wall, DelVal fought to a 25-21 win in the fourth force the fifth and final game. As a team, the Aggies had four more kills than the home team (47-43) but committed six more errors (32-26). 

Washington College outplayed DelVal with 46 kills to the Aggies 21 as each team committed 14 errors. Victoria Tucker led the way with nine kills and two service aces while Deffendall, Helverson, and Kane each notched three kills. Schneider finished with 10 digs and two aces and Nemil had 18 assists and a kill. 

The Aggies moved to 2-7 overall and will get back to conference play on Tuesday when they welcome Stevens Tech. for a 7 p.m. match that will be played at Gwynedd Mercy.
