DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team surrendered two goals in the first 15:14 of regulation, including a penalty kick tally, as visiting Bryn Athyn College came away with a 3-0 shutout in a non-conference bout on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions (1-2) earned a corner kick in the 12th minute and Owen Ovecka served a ball into the box that Enrico Romano headed into the net for the early one-goal lead. Moments later, Justin Lykunov got behind the Aggie defense and was taken down in the box by a defender. He was awarded a penalty kick and drilled one to the keeper's right side and into the net for a 2-0 advantage.
DelVal, now at 3-3 overall, had seven shots in the first half and three on cage that were all managed by the Bryn Athyn keeper as it remained a two-goal game going into the second.
The Lions tacked on one more in the opening minute when Romano potted his second of the day. Bryn Athyn finished the game with 10 shots on target to the Aggies' five and each team had one corner opportunity.
John Braun played all 90 minutes in goal and made seven saves while Michael Haas got the win for the Lions with five saves. Five different players managed a shot on goal for DelVal.
