CLARKS SUMMIT (Pa.) -- Delaware Valley University men's soccer surrendered a set-piece goal in the early going and was outscored, 2-0, in the second half as Clarks Summit University pulled away with a 3-1 non-conference win.
The Aggies (2-2) were called for a foul just outside their own 18, in the middle of the field. Evan Michel took the free-kick and laced one past the wall and under the bar to put the defenders (1-2) on top early.
Fifteen minutes later, sophomore
Chase Strohecker scored his third of the season on an unassisted tally. Unfortunately for DelVal, it was the only shot on goal for the team despite having a 13-11 advantage in shot attempts, and a 3-2 advantage in corner opportunities for the game.
Michel setup his teammate, Jeremiah Taylor in the 71st minute for the game-winning goal and Joel Funez added another in the 89th minute for the 3-1 final.
There were four yellow cards handed out in the game, two for each team.
Andrew Roberto played all 90 minutes in goal for Delaware Valley and made one save.
The Aggies return home Wednesday afternoon as part of a soccer double-header against Bryn Athyn College. The men's team will kickoff at 4 p.m.
