Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Splits Tri-Match; Drops 3-2 Thriller

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University volleyball team hosted Rosemont College and Bryn Mawr College for its first tri-match of the year and earned a split decision with a 3-0 win over Rosemont and a 3-2 setback against the Owls. 

The Aggies handled Rosemont with scores of 25-7, 25-9, and 25-22. They defeated Bryn Mawr, 25-21 in game one, but dropped the next games, 29-27 and 25-16, before rallying to win game four, 26-24. In the fifth and final dramatic set, the Aggies ultimately fell, 15-13. 

The Ravens committed 24 errors against DelVal while the Aggies only suffered nine turnovers. Olivia had seven kills and eight digs in the match, Grace Kane had 10 digs, and Caitlin Nemil had 13 assists and seven digs. 

In the middle match between the Ravens and Bryn Mawr, the Owls dropped the first game, but won three in a row to take the match. 

Against Bryn Mawr, DelVal had 49 kills to the Owl's 47 for the match. After taking game one, the Aggies held a game-point at 27-26 in game two but the Owls rallied for three-straight points to earn the 29-27 win. Bryn Mawr took game three easily, 25-16, and jumped out to a 13-5 lead in game four. It maintained a 21-14 advantage late in the match, before the Aggies rallied for five straight points and a 10-4 run to pull ahead, 24-23. Bryn Mawr knotted the game at 24 apiece before the Aggies got a kill by Nemil and an ace from Victoria Tucker to seal the game and force a game five. 

In the fifth and final game, the Aggies jumped out to a 7-2 lead and maintained an 11-5 advantage before the Owls ripped off nine straight to pull in front, 14-11. DelVal made it a one-point game, 14-13, but an unforced error by DelVal ended the match at 15-13.
