Women's Lacrosse Celebrates Seniors Before Dropping Home Contest To Arcadia

Seniors Julie Burns, Sabrina Butler, Jaden Keefer, and Amanda McKeegan Were Honored By Their Teammates

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) –  The Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse team played its final game of the regular season and honored its four seniors before falling to visiting Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom rival Arcadia University, 20-1.

The Aggies honored the careers of their seniors Julie Burns, Sabrina Butler, Jaden Keefer and Amanda McKeegan with a pregame ceremony. The group combined to play over 130 games for the Green and Gold with McKeegan and Butler etching their names in the program's record book in multiple categories. McKeegan became the program's all-time leader in points earlier the season, ranks second in goals scored, and second in assists, while Butler ranks fifth all-time in career assists.

The Knights (2-8, 2-4 MAC Freedom) opened the game with a 4-0 run before Sabrina Butler capitalized on a free position shot to make it 4-1 with 16 minutes remaining in the half.

Arcadia continued to press with seven unanswered goals before the break to put the game out of reach, 11-1. It tacked on nine more over the final 30 minutes of regulation to walk away with a 20-1 victory.

Butler's goal was her tenth of the year, and she won a team-high three draw controls. Lynne' Asplundh and Shannon Hood each had a team-high three ground balls and Hood made five saves in her return to the cage.

Mackenzie Hoffman led all players with five points on two goals and three assists. Emily Covert, Skylar Acker and Sarah Morris all notched three goals apiecem and six other players had at least one goal.

The Aggies now await the final conference standings to find out who they will play in the first round of the MAC Freedom Championships on Tuesday, April 27.
