DALLAS (Pa.) – Misericordia University scored early and often to overcome the visiting Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team, 30-9, in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest.
The Cougars improved to 6-2 overall and pulled even with the Aggies in the MAC Freedom at 3-2. DelVal fell to 5-4 overall.
Misericordia scored the first two goals of the game and led 3-2 after eight minutes. The Cougars scored the next seven to close the quarter and take an eight-goal lead into the second.
The Aggies got two of the first three goals in the second including one from Francis Rose, the first of his career, to make it 11-4.
Misericordia went on another big run to close the second as it scored the next six before Brett Ziegler got an unassisted tally just before the break to make it 17-5. The rest of the way was all Cougars as they outscored the visitors, 13-4, to cruise to the big victory.
Sophomore Jack Sprinkle scored his first career goal early in the game and finished with three points on two goals and an assist to lead the team. Matt Waibel had two goals while Brandon Keller and Ben Napieralski each finished with one goal and one assist, and Travis Berman netted one. Chris Dearden won 10-of-23 faceoffs with 10 ground balls and Jim Murphy and Ryley Savering split time in net and combined for 17 saves.
Six different players had at least six points for Misericordia including a game-high nine points on three goals and six assists by Robert Wagner who also grabbed five ground balls.
