Box Score DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team played its final home game of the regular season and honored its six seniors before dropping a tough decision to visiting Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom rival DeSales University, 12-3.
The Aggies honored the careers of their seniors Dylan Brasch, Alex Gundersen, Brandon Keller, PJ Rafferty, Mike Tkach, and Matt Waibel with a pregame ceremony and recognized key contributors in Matt Laurence and their team managers.
The 2019 MAC Freedom Champion Bulldogs (4-2, 4-0 MAC Freedom) opened the game with a 4-0 run fueled by three goals from Tom Connors. They maintained the 4-0 lead into the second.
DeSales continued its run with five goals in the second and one to start the third frame to extend its advantage to 10-0 early in the third quarter.
Brandon Keller got the Aggies on the board with a goal assisted by Brett Ziegler, and both teams went scoreless over the remaining 11:57 of the third as the game remained 10-1 into the final frame.
The Bulldogs tacked on two more to begin the fourth before Waibel scored his eighth of the year and Keller netted his second of the game with under a minute left in regulation for the 12-3 final.
Keller led the team with two goals and first-year Luke Kelchner finished the game with a team-high six ground balls and a game-high four caused turnovers. Waibel and Brett Ziegler each finished the game with a single point on one goal and one assist, respectively. Freshman Jim Murphy finished with 13 saves in goal for the Aggies.
Connor led all players with six points on four goals and two assists and Beau Neff followed with a five-point night on three goals and a pair of helpers. Chase Yoder was strong at the faceoff dot with 13-of-19 wins and 11 ground balls.
DelVal will conclude its season this Saturday, April 24, at Arcadia as they faceoff against the Knights at 1 p.m.
