McKeegan Scores 100th Goal, But Aggies Fall At King's

WILKES-BARRE (Pa.) – Senior Amanda McKeegan reached the 100 career goal plateau with three in the game, but it was not enough as the Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse team fell to Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe King's College in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday night, 16-4.

The Monarchs (2-3, 2-1 MAC Freedom) got out to a 4-0 lead 12:25 into the game. McKeegan scored her team-leading eighth of the season for the Aggies (0-5, 0-2 MAC Freedom) to make it 4-1 with 12:07 left in the half.

King's scored the next two goals in a span of 12 seconds to increase its advantage to five, but three minutes later DelVal capitalized on an extra-man opportunity as Isabella Walls found the back of the net to make it 6-2 with just over six minutes left in the first.

The Monarchs tacked on five more over the final 5:23 of the first half and outscored the Aggies, 4-2, the rest of the way to earn the road victory.

McKeegan, the senior from Jackson, New Jersey, reached her milestone with two goals in the final 23:05 of regulation. The first was off a feed from junior running mate Sarina Butler and the second was an unassisted tally with 12:11 on the clock. McKeegan is the third player in team history to reach the 100 career-goal plateau and is five goals away from breaking the all-time record for goals in a career.

Defensively, Ashley Birmingham and Nycole Hale combined for four caused turnovers and six ground balls and Lynne' Asplundh had a caused turnover and two ground balls.

Five different players had multi-point games for King's led by MK Klodarska's three goals and three assists for six points.
