DOYLESTOWN (Pa.)—The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team (6-4, 0-3) surrendered only a first half goal, but couldn't muster up any offense, as it fell 1-0 to the visiting Lycoming Warriors (9-3-1, 2-0-1) in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest.
The Aggies got their first good look of the game in the 12th minute, as first-year Jess Williamson ripped a shot from just beyond ten yards out, but first-year goalkeeper Abbey Girasimof made one of her three saves of the game to keep it scoreless.
Lycoming was able to break through in the 29th minute, as senior Alicia Blizzard was left with open space from 30 yards out and buried a shot in the upper left corner to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead, which they would carry into halftime.
The Aggies were able to hold Lycoming scoreless in the second half, but were held without a goal themselves, as they could only produce two shots in the final 45 minutes.
Junior goalkeeper Olivia Sherwood made nine saves in net for the Aggies. Girasimof picked up her third win of the season for Lycoming.
Delaware Valley travels to FDU-Florham on Tuesday October 12th for their next MAC Freedom contest.
