MADISON (Nj.) – Amanda Croce notched five points on two goals and an assist to lead FDU-Florham to a 3-0 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory over the visiting Delaware Valley University women's soccer team on Tuesday night.
Croce gave the Devils (10-4-1, 2-1-1 MAC Freedom) a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute after a nice passing play saw Nathalia Gallo send a cross to the box that Croce buried from six yards out for her first of the game. The Aggies (6-5, 0-4 MAC Freedom) had six shots in the first half and three corner opportunities, but still trailed by one at the break.
DelVal's best chance came early in the second half as it moved the ball up field and Jess Williamson got a chance from inside the box, but FDU-Florham keeper Erica Blackburn made a nice save to fend off the attempt. Two minutes later, the Devils countered off a throw in where Croce got to the ball and laid a pass off to Gallo in the box and her shot from 12 yards out found the net and gave the home team a 2-0 lead.
Croce put the game out of reach in the 62nd minute as she dribbled to the top of the box and blasted a shot that went off the cross bar and in for her second of the night.
Three different players, Williamson, Sydney Dispoto, and Meztly Garcia had a shot on goal for the Aggies and Olivia Sherwood made six saves between the pipes in 90 minutes. Two players split time in goal for the Devils with Ashley Paulino making two saves and Erica Blackburn making one save in relief.
DelVal will look to get back in the win column with a home MAC Freedom contest against King's College on Saturday
