Men's Soccer Downed In Home MAC Freedom Contest

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team hosted Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom newcomer Lycoming College on Friday afternoon and dropped a 3-0 decision.

The Warriors (6-4-2, 2-1 MAC Freedom) broke the scoreless tie in the 14th minute off a set piece. Dylan Sloan sent a perfect ball into the box from a ways out and Colin Wieand went up high to get his head on it inside the box and put it in the net. Lycoming had one shot on goal the rest of the half and held the Aggies (4-7, 0-3 MAC Freedom) off the scoresheet to maintain the one-goal lead at the break.

Early in the second, DelVal had its best chance of the game with a free kick from just outside the 18. Dan Arone stepped in for the attempt, but it was blocked by the wall and cleared away. With just over 25 minutes left in regulation, the Warriors doubled their lead as Craig Austin let a shot go from just outside the box that made its way through a maze of players and passed the keeper. Lycoming tacked on one more late in regulation off a penalty kick goal from Josh Zinngrebe. Zinngrebe went to the low left where he narrowly beat the outstretched goalies diving attempt.

Quinn McCarty played all 90 minutes in the cage for DelVal and made five saves.
