Delaware Valley University women's soccer (6-8, 0-7) played their first of three games this week, as they fell to host Wilkes 2-0 in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest.
Wilkes (7-7-2, 3-3-2) got on the board in the 18th minute as Sarah Eliff gained possession at midfield and sped past one defender. She dribbled all the way down the field, eventually splitting two more Aggies before cutting back to her right and netting her fifth goal of the season.
The Colonels added to their lead just under nine minutes later when Eliff raced up the right sideline, crossed one into the box and Katie Sites deflected in the pass for her first goal of the season. Wilkes would hold on to their 2-0 lead into halftime.
DelVal was heled without a shot until the 63rd minute when Jess Williamson's left-footed shot was saved by Hannah Landis. For the game, the Colonels outshot the Aggies 33-4 overall and 16-3 in shots on goal. Olivia Sherwood recorded 14 saves in goal for the Aggies.
Delaware Valley will be back in action tomorrow for a non-conference match against Wilson at 4PM and will conclude their regular season on Friday night against Arcadia.
