WILKES-BARRE (Pa.) -- Sophomore
Sydney Keagle scored her first career goal, but the Delaware Valley University field hockey team fell in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom action at Wilkes University, 5-1.
The Colonels (2-8, 1-1) got on the board 7:24 into regulation when Morgan Murphy set up Ali Dunn. Less than five minutes later, Dunn got her second of the day as she banged home a rebound to make it 2-0 going into the second quarter,
In the second, Murphy tipped on past the Aggie keeper and Jordan Pugh earned the assist. Keagle got DelVal (1-9, 0-2) on the board just before the end of the half with her first of the season. The Colonels tacked on two more in the second half for the win.
The Aggies outshot Wilkes in the first half, 11-10, but the Colonels had the edge at the end of the game, 20-17. DelVal had more opportunities off of corner plays with an 11-4 advantage in that department.
Alyssa Rudd made nine saves in goal and Jess Dixon led the offense with three shots on goal.
Gillian Nardelli got off six shots with two on cage.
