FORT PIERCE (Fl.) -- The Delaware Valley University baseball team had five hits and six baserunners but could not crack the score sheet as Washington College held the Aggies off the board and claimed the 7-0 non-conference victory in Florida.

The Shoremen (7-4) scored once in the second inning and tacked on four in the fourth and one more in the eighth frame - all of the runs were earned.

The Aggies (1-4) got hits from five different players, but left four runners on base including two in scoring position. Tom Crooks led the squad with a hit and a walk. Jeff Defazio suffered the loss on the mound after 3.1 innings of pitched with six earned runs allowed on six hits and four walks. He struck out three batters. Pete Sodano pitched the final three frames and punched out five of the 12 batters he faced, but gave up an earned run on three hits. Ryan Jantzen pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless ball and allowed two hits and one walk while striking out two.

Ben Ruvo led Washington with a 4-for-4 effort and two RBI and John Grill got the win after five innings pitched and four strikeouts. Four different relief pitchers combined to hold DelVal hitless over the final four innings.
