DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse team surrendered 15 unanswered goals and dropped its home opener, 17-2, to the Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins.
After 10 minutes of play the Griffins (1-2) held a 3-2 lead over the Aggies (1-1). Gwynedd Mercy got the first three goals, but DelVal responded with two tallies in 39 seconds from
Sabrina Butler and
Amanda McKeegan.
The rest of the way was all Griffins as they scored 11 more in the first half and tacked on four more in the second on its way to the road triumph.
Victoria Mollitor led Gwynedd with five goals and six other players had at least one including Meleah Hoats who finished with four points on two goals and two assists.
Shannon Hood started in goal for the Aggies and made three saves and
Liv Valentine came on in relief and played the second half and stopped six of 10 shots fired her way.
DelVal will travel to take on Immaculata on Wednesday, March 4 at 4:00 p.m.
