WILKES-BARRE (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University lost its fourth-straight game as host Wilkes University shot over 50-percent from the field en route to an 83-68 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom win.
The Aggies fell to 6-17 overall and 2-11 in league play while the Colonels improved to 11-13 and 4-9 with just one game remaining in the regular season.
Wilkes began the game with a 19-2 run and led by as many as 18 less than 10 minutes into regulation.
DelVal closed the first stanza with a 14-4 run over the final four minutes to go into the halftime break down nine, 41-32. Freshman JaQuanne Hayes came off the bench and scored seven points in 11 minutes to lead the team in the first half. He hit two treys including one that went for a four-point play.
Damian Washington scored consecutive layups for DelVal to start the second and get the deficit to five, 41-36. Colonels' seniors Mark Mullins and Rob Pecorelli responded with the next seven points to get it back to a double-digit lead with 17 minutes left in regulation.
Less than three minutes later, the Aggies got back to within eight, 50-42, after
Nestor Diaz found
Mike Cianciulli for a layup. However, over the next three minutes, Pecorelli exploded for 10 points to lift Wilkes to a 15-point lead with 11:42 on the clock.
The Colonels continued to roll and held DelVal at bay as they went on to the 25-point victory.
Pecorelli finished with a game-high 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting and Mullins followed with 16 points and eight rebounds as he shot 7-for-10 from the field.
For the Aggies, Cianciulli and Washington each had 16 points and Washington grabbed a team-high five rebounds with three steals and two blocked shots.
Jordan Tucker cracked double figures with 10 points and Hayes netted a career-best seven points in 28 minutes.
DelVal will wrap up its regular season at home on senior day against DeSales Unviersity at 3 p.m.
