DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Senior
Austin Daniels scored with under two minutes remaining in the first overtime to lift the Delaware Valley University men's soccer team to a 1-0 home triumph over Wilson College, and extended its winning streak to three in a row.
On an opposing goal kick in the first overtime,
Matt Miller leaped into the air and managed to get his head on the ball, deflecting it towards
Andre Permyashkin, who flicked the ball towards Daniels as he sprinted down the right side of the field. Daniels managed to control the ball, blew past a defender and then rocketed a shot inside the far post to send the Aggies' sideline into a frenzy with a 1-0 overtime win.
Daniels' goal was his team-leading third of the year, and his second overtime winner of the season. With the win, DelVal extends its win-streak to three games, its longest streak since 2013.
A blown opportunity for Wilson in the first half ended up costing the Phoenix. Midway through the first, Wilson found themselves on a two-on-one inside the box, but a poorly timed pass resulted in a nothing play.
Aside from this, the Aggies controlled the majority of the game, outshooting the Phoenix, 6-2, in regulation and 7-2 overall. DelVal also had six of the games eight corner kicks.
Junior
Josh Jarrett earned his first shutout of the season with one save in the victory.
The Aggies return to action September 11 as for their first road test of the season at Rosemont College. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m.
