Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Toppled At Home By Marywood

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) -- Senior Megan Kleinfelter picked up her first career goal, but that is all the offense that the Delaware Valley University field hockey team could muster up against visiting Marywood University as they fell at home, 4-1.

The Aggies (1-2) scored one goal on one shot for the second straight game, and surrendered 13 shots on goal and 14 corner opportunities to the Pacers (2-2).

Kita Konerth made three tough saves in the first quarter to keep the game scoreless. Marywood found the back of the cage halfway through the second as Kenzie Drew found Lindsey Quinn in front of the goal and she buried her first of the day to make it 1-0. It remained a one-goal game until the second half.

In the third, Drew picked up her second assist, this time off a corner play, as she fed Sara Sterchak at the top of the arch and her blast made it through a maze of players and passed the keeper. Less than two minutes later, Quinn notched her second of the game to make it 3-0. The Pacers tacked on one more and Drew earned her third assist of the game to make it a 4-0 game going into the fourth.

DelVal spoiled the shutout with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Kleinfelter, a steady defender for four years, was tabbed to play offense and the move payed off. Mackenzie Harper sent a great ball into the arch where Kleinfelter was able to gather, fend off a defender, and blast one into the back of the cage to make it 4-1.

Konerth played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the Aggies and made nine saves despite the loss. The Aggies will look to bounce-back at home on Wednesday night against the Moravian College Greyhounds at 7 p.m.
