Smith Scores Three As Aggies Rout Bryn Athyn At Home, 7-0

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Sophomore T.J. Smith scored three times in the first half, and a total of four different players found the back of the cage, as the Delaware Valley University field hockey team routed Bryn Athyn College at home, 7-0, in a non-conference affair.

The Aggies (2-2) dominated the contest from the moment the whistle blew as they had 21 shots and 11 penalty corners while keeping the Lions (0-3) off the board in both categories. Fourteen of the shots came in the first half with six resulting in goals.

Jess Dixon opened the scoring less than three minutes into the game as she rocketed a loose ball into the back of the cage from eight yards out for an early 1-0 lead. Smith then connected for her first of the game, resulting in a 2-0 lead headed into the second quarter.

Madi Colon and Gillian Nardelli picked up their third and second goals of the season, respectively, separated by less than three minutes at the beginning of the second frame. Smith continued the scoring onslaught with goals in the 21st and 28th minutes to complete her first career hat trick. Sadie Strober picked up her first point of the year with an assist on Nardelli's goal.

Early in the third quarter, Colon notched her second of the game to put the contest out of reach at 7-0.

Rosie Bishop and Nikki Hartzel each played two quarters between the pipes and shared the shutout.
