DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University field hockey team earned its second consecutive home shutout as it picked up a 4-0 victory against visiting Drew University under the lights on Friday night.
The Aggies got back to .500 at 3-3 overall while the Rangers fell to 2-6.
DelVal ripped off seven shots in the first quarter, four of which were on cage, and the squad earned four corners but could not cash in. With 35 seconds remaining in the first half, the Aggies got their fifth corner of the game and
Jess Dixon blasted a shot from the top of the arch for her third goal of the season and a 1-0 lead. DelVal held Drew to zero shots and just one corner in the first half to take the one-goal lead into the break.
It took less than two minutes for the Aggies to double their lead as T.J. Smith extended her goal-streak to three games when she pounded one home from in tight.
In the fourth quarter, DelVal scored twice in a span of 1:20 to take a 4-0 lead. Dixon picked up her second of the night, unassisted, and
Ali Aguilar sent one in to the top corner on a penalty stroke as the Aggies cruised to the 4-0 win.
Bishop had to make three saves in the fourth quarter and finished the game with four. DelVal outshot the Rangers, 15-4, in the game and held a 9-5 edge in corners.
