DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team saw its four-game unbeaten streak snapped at home as it lost a hard-fought battle to Berkeley College, 1-0.
The Knights (4-0-1) capitalized on a handball infraction inside the box in the 40
th minute to earn the 1-0 victory. Marcos Hidalgo was the player to bury the penalty kick as he went low to the left side to beat Aggies' keeper,
Shay McAnee.
DelVal (3-2-1) was outshot 5-0 in the first half, but had the lone shot on target in the second and earned three corner opportunities. Controversy amounted in the waning seconds as an Aggie player was dragged down in the box, but the referees deemed that foul occurred after the final horn and the game was over.
Five yellow cards were issued in the contest, three to the Knights and two to DelVal.
Dan Arone and
Matt Miller each had two shot attempts and Arone's was the lone attempt on target.
The Aggies will host Stevenson University on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
