HARRISONBURG (Va.) – The Delaware Valley University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on day two of the Route 42 Classic hosted by Eastern Mennonite University. The Aggies fell to Salem College (NC), 3-1, and dropped a 3-0 decision to Wilson College.
The Aggies fell to the Spirits of Salem College by scores of 25-18. 25-11, 26-24, and 25-18. A combined 18 errors in the first two sets hurt DelVal, but it bounced back in the third set with 15 kills and only four errors to win a thrilling set, 26-24. The Spirits got hot in the final set with 15 kills and only two errors to claim the victory.
Reilly Green led the squad with seven kills and
Jules Campbell followed with six while
Tara Moffa contributed five.
Caitlin Nemil served up four aces and dished out 22 assists while
Jess Ellick ld the way with 15 digs.
In the final match of the tournament, the Phoenix used scores of 25-20, 25-23, and 25-13 to down DelVal. The Aggies had a total of 24 kills and 23 errors in the three sets combined while Wilson finished with 32 kills and 19 errors.
Green paced the team in scoring again with nine kills and Campbell and Moffa each had four.
Laura Sweger and Green combined for two blocks apiece while Nemil had 20 assists and Moffa dug out 24 balls.
DelVal will take on the University of Valley Forge in its home opener on Tuesday, September 3 at 7 p.m.
