HARRISONBURG (VA) – The Delaware Valley University volleyball team opened its 2019 campaign in southern Virginia at the second annual Route 42 Classic, but fell to host Eastern Mennonite University, 3-0. Set scores were 25-15, 25-10 and 25-13 in favor of the Royals.
Down 1-0 in sets, the Aggies jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the second, however, Eastern Mennonite rallied off 11 unanswered points and never looked back on its way to a game two win.
Sophomore
Reilly Green had a strong match for DelVal as she recorded a team-high five kills. Senior
Tara Moffa led the team with two service aces, seven digs and three kills. Fellow senior
Laura Sweger also registered three kills. Senior
Jess Ellick led the way defensively with nine digs and
Caitlin Nemil notched 12 of the teams 13 assists.
The Aggies have one additional match in the Classic tomorrow, September 1, against Salem College at 10 a.m.
