Men's Lacrosse Downed On The Road At Eastern

ST. DAVIDS (Pa.) –   Despite a 20-save effort by Nic Brown, the Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team was stifled as the host Eastern University Eagles soared past the Aggies for a 13-3 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory.

The Eagles have won five of the last six MAC Freedom titles and now sit in a tie atop the standings with DeSales University at 6-0 as the two teams set to battle on Saturday in St. David's.

Eastern scored four unanswered goals, with Trent Ashton netting two of the four, in the first quarter to take a 4-0 lead into the second.

Alex Gundersen, with his 13th goal of the season, got the Aggies on the board less than a minute into the second frame to make it 4-1.

Eastern added six unanswered goals, with three in the second and three to start the third frame, to put the game out of reach. Ashton completed the hat-trick in the second and added a fourth in the third as he led the team to a 10-1 lead with 3:20 still to play in the third quarter.

Fighting an uphill battle, Dylan Brasch scored an unassisted goal late in third and Khalil Lindsay scored less than four minutes into the final frame to cut the lead to seven. Eastern added three additional goals throughout the remainder of the game for the, 13-3, victory.

Bryan Thompson led the team with seven ground balls as he won 9-of-30 face offs and Matt Waibel picked up an assist. Jared Feuer, Michael Florig, and Sean Mylod each finished the game with two caused turnovers and Brown's 20 saves were the most since a career-best 25 in the Battle for the Bucks-Mont Hammer victory earlier this season.

DelVal returns home for its final game of the season at Robert A. Lipinski Field as it faces off against the Misericordia University Cougars on Saturday, April 27, at 1 p.m.
