CENTER VALLEY (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University baseball team played its home doubleheader at DeSales University on Sunday afternoon due to poor field conditions in Doylestown and dropped both games of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom tilt to the Bulldogs. The Aggies dropped the first game, 23-3, and fell in the second, 12-2.
The opener was knotted at one apiece after the first inning, but DeSales scored 21 unanswered through the next five frames and led 22-2 after six innings.
DelVal had five hits in the game, two from
Troy Lachenmayer who picked up an RBI single and scored a run.
Ryan Schuetrumpf went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and
Tom Crooks had one hit and scored once. Four different players pitched in the game and
Hunter Mease suffered the loss, but struck out two batters.
Six different players had multiple hits for the Bulldogs in the opener led by Charlie Barebo and Johnny Medina's four apiece. Michael White was 2-for-3 with six runs driven in. John Poccia pitched six innings and struck out nine batters.
In the nightcap, DelVal went up 2-0 after two frames thanks to RBIs from Crooks and
Tanner Moran. It managed just three hits the rest of the way and did not score another run.
Timmy Lallis led the way with a 2-for-3 effort and a run scored.
Cody Brown suffered the loss on the mound, but did strike out five batters.
DeSales managed 14 hits and five of the 12 runs were earned. Five different players registered multiple hits and three players managed three base knocks. Ian Kacergis pitched a complete game and struck out seven batters while allowing seven hits.
The two squads will conclude the series tomorrow with one nine inning game at DeSales with the Bulldogs as the home team. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
