DelVal Baseball Suffers Third Straight Loss In Florida

Fort Pierce (FL) – The Delaware Valley University baseball team dropped its third straight game on its spring break trip to Florida as the College of Mount Saint Vincent scored five runs in the third inning and never looked back, en route to a 13-5 triumph on Tuesday afternoon.

The loss dropped the Aggies to 1-5 while the Dolphins improved to 1-2.

After going down 2-0 in the first inning, DelVal put up three runs on three hits and an error. Cody Brown stole home as part of a double steal and Luke Hendricks and Joey Lodato also crossed the plate in the frame.

CMSV tied the game in the bottom of the second as Isidoros Bartziokas scored on an RBI single from Blinstrub.

The Dolphins pulled away in the third with four hits for five runs and Blinstrub drove in another pair of runs with a bases loaded single to make it 8-3.

The Aggies scored one run in the fourth and one in the fifth to cut their deficit to 8-5. Lodato drove in Hendricks with an RBI single and Tom Crooks drove in Matt De La Rosa who was aboard with a walk and a stolen base.

In the final inning, the Dolphins added five more and the Aggies were held off the board to end the game at 13-5.

Hendricks and Lodato led the team with two hits a piece while Crooks, Brown, and Zackary Zgura each had one.

Zack Goodell suffered his third loss of the season after giving up eight hits and eight runs through 3.1 innings.

Jake Blinstub led the Dolphins with four RBI's while Matt DiNorcia and Norcero each had three, and all three players had two hits.

On the mound, Sanderson pitched four innings while surrendering four runs. Nitowski (1-1) pitched one inning giving up one run for the win. McHugh pitched three innings of scoreless ball and Jeremy Glazer threw a scoreless final inning.

The Aggies will be right back in action tomorrow as they play a doubleheader against Western Connecticut State beginning at 10 a.m.
