DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men' basketball team outscored host King's College, 41-14, in the first half en route to a 69-41 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom triumph.
The Aggies remain in second place after all of the league games on Wednesday with an 8-3 league mark and 12-10 record overall. They will play last place FDU-Florham at home on Saturday before going to fourth-place Wilkes and first-place DeSales to conclude the regular season. The top four teams at the end of the year will advance to the conference playoffs.
DelVal got out to an 11-0 lead to start this game and grew held a 22-3 advantage halfway through the first half. Four different players got on the scoreboard, led by nine points from
Damian Washington, and the defense forced King's into five turnovers to that point.
The Aggies finished the half shooting 17-for-33 (51.5%) from the field and held the Monarchs to just 4-of-23 (17.4%) from the field. DelVal forced the home team into 10 turnovers and converted them into 15 points while surrendering just five turnovers itself.
The Aggies held a 41-14 lead at the half.
DelVal led by as many as 33 with over 15 minutes to play in regulation and cruised to the wire-to-wire victory, 69-41.
The Aggies played all 13 guys on their bench and 10 reached the box score. Washington recorded a double-double with 20 points, 13 rebounds and
Alex Matsinye followed with 13 points and nine boards.
Lybrant Robinson scored 12 points and
Mike Cianciulli and Terrence Johnson each scored six.
Andre' Butler hauled in eight boards and dished out three assists while Jadon Robinson and
Craig Rosenberger each scored four points.
King' made just 15-of-55 field goals in the game and 1-of-15 3-pointers. Joe Lonardi was the only player in double-figures with 11 points. Andrew Hudak and Jake Pawliczak each had eight rebounds with seven and four points, respectively.
