NORRISTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University equestrian hunt seat team competed in its first Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) event of the spring semester at Worcester Stables on Saturday.
The Aggies opened the chilly morning with solid rides in open fences from
Millie Brooks who placed third and
Emily Cornell who followed in fourth.
In intermediate fences, senior
Riley Stone took home a win,
Haley Cliver finished fourth, and
Alexis Martin placed sixth.
Brooks and Cornell competed again in open flat and earned third and fourth place, respectively.
Jazmin Markey tied Cornell for the fourth place showing.
In intermediate flats,
Alexis Martin brought home first place and
Riley Stone placed fourth, which qualifies her for regional finals. Rounding out this class with strong showings was
Laura Clarke and her fourth place finish, and
Rebecca Booz earned sixth place.
Continuing the jumping classes with novice fences,
Laura Perry and
Taylor Mill earned fifth place, and trailing close behind was
Evelyn Smith, who placed sixth. Facing some tough competition in novice flat,
Taylor Hennigan earned first and both
Dana White and
Nikki Trombley finished in third.
As the day started to warm up, the Aggies' advanced walk-trot-canter riders took the ring by storm. Freshman
Haley Ferguson won her class,
Madison Lofgren and
Madison Frazier earned third place, and
Katie Brinegar and
Jenna Merrick placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Also in advanced walk-trot-canter,
Abby Laws and
Hannah Ford secured sixth place. Closing out the day with strong rides, Sam Angelella and
Alyssa Gerdy finished third in their sections of walk-trot.
