DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse team downed Lancaster Bible College in its home opener for its first win of the season. With the victory, DelVal remained undefeated in home openers since its inauguration in 2015. The Aggies erupted for 11 goals in the first half in route to a convincing 16-4 victory over the Chargers (0-1).
It did not take long for DelVal to get on the board as junior attack/midfield,
Amanda McKeegan scored on the Aggies first shot just 34 seconds into the game. Junior
Sabrina Butler and sophomore
Jaden Keefer also scored early for DelVal to give the team a three goal lead before Emily Morgan answered with an unassisted goal to get the Chargers on the board.
DelVal increased its lead as it rallied off the next five goals, including another two by McKeegan.

Samantha Collyer also picked up a hat trick in the first half and sophomore midfielder
Claire Gamache picked up four points on one goal and three assists.
DelVal controlled the majority of the play in the first as it outshot Lancaster Bible 17-10. The Aggies also managed 10 clears in the first half to just five for the Chargers. Senior
Courtney Knight netted her first of the season with just 10 seconds remaining in the first frame to give the Aggies a commanding 11-2 lead at the half.
DelVal opened up the second half with five unanswered goals over the first 10:40 of play to put the game out of reach for the Chargers.
Senior goalkeeper
Amanda Dietrich stopped six shots and picked up her first win of the season. Sophomore
Shannon Hood also saw time in net as she finished the game with two saves and just one goal against.
McKeegan finished with four goals and two assists, her most goals since a four goal out-burst against Gwynedd Mercy almost exactly one year ago where she also notched a career-best six points. Butler and Keefer also scored two goals each.
Gabby Borst and
Erin McCarthy each scored their first collegiate goals to round out the scoring for DelVal.
Gamache finished with two goals and three assists for five points and grabbed a team-high eight caused turnovers, seven ground balls, and three draw controls.
For LBC, Sarah Vega had a goal and an assist for two points and added a ground ball and one caused turnover. Becca Lucente played all 60 minutes in goal and made nine stops.
DelVal is headed to Gwynedd Valley, Pa. this Wednesday for its first road game of the season against the Griffins at 4 P.M.
