Kevin Kohout made his debut on the sideline for the Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team, but it was host Stockton University that came away victorious with a 27-12 triumph in the season-opener.
The Ospreys scored four unanswered goals, by four different players, in the first six minutes to get out to an early advantage.
The Aggies scored the next three in just 1:17, senior P.J. Rafferty got the spurt started and
Jordan Smith capped it off. Sophomore
Alex Gundersen sandwiched his second career goal in between.
Stockton outscored DelVal 3-1 the remainder of the first to take a 7-4 lead into the second. In the second, the Ospreys outscored the Aggies 6-2 to take a 13-6 lead at halftime. Dante Poli had three goals in that frame and four in the first half.
Poli started the second half with another tally, and Erik Anderson scored his second to start for Stockton.

Dylan Brasch scored two goals separated by 1:02 to make it a 15-8 game with 12 minutes left in the third, but the Ospreys put the game out of reach with five straight goals to take a 20-8 lead, and led by 12 at the end of the third, 22-10.
Stockton outscored the Aggies 5-2 in the final 15 minutes to wrap-up the 27-12 home win.
Gunderson and Smith led DelVal with three goals and one assist apiece and Rafferty added two goals and a helper. Brasch also finished with two tallies and
Khalil Lindsey at
Matt Waibel picked up one each.
Jerad Wilson led the defense with five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Bryan Thompson went 13-for-33 on faceoffs and grabbed three ground ball.
Luc Swedlund scored nine goals and added two assists for a game-high 11 points and Poli finished the game with nine points on five goals and four assists. Anderson scored four times and dished out one dime for five points. The Ospreys outshot the Aggies, 27-12.
DelVal will play at Moravian at 1 p.m. on Saturday before playing its home-opener next Friday at 7 p.m. against Arcadia in the Battle for the Bux-Mont Hammer.
