Delaware Valley University erased a 16-point first half deficit, but could not hang on, as visiting Gettysburg College came away with the 86-77 victory to remain undefeated.
The Bullets improved to 4-0 while the Aggies fell back to .500 at 2-2 with its first home setback of the season.
Gettysburg shot out to a 14-0 lead less than two minutes into the game, and eventually led by as many as 16 at 22-6 with 17:05 still to play in the first half.
DelVal fired back with a 17-3 run over the next seven minutes of action fueled by eight points from junior forward
Damian Washington. Washington made consecutive layups, both with an and-1 play, to spark the run, and capped it with two additional free throws, 25-23 Bullets, at the 5:03 mark.
From there Gettysburg went on a 16-8 run for a 41-31 lead with 2:24 remaining in the first half but DelVal refused to quit with a 10-2 run over the final two minutes capped by a three pointer and layup by
Mike Cianciulli.
Fourteen seconds into the second half the Aggies grabbed their first lead of the game as
Jordan Tucker added a layup which was assisted by Edward Jones. Cianciulli followed with a trey and an and-1 play for DelVal's largest lead of the game, 48-45. The Aggies were able to hold onto the lead through the first four minutes of the second half, 52-51.
From there, the Bulletts went on a 30-15 run over the next 12 minutes of play to pull away to a 82-66 lead, and eventually, the 86-77 win.
Nick Antolini had 20 points followed by Alex Leder and Danny Duffey with 17 and 16 respectively. Nick Lord had a game-high four three's as he went four for four outside the line. As a team, Gettysburg made 51.9% of its three point attempts, 14-27.
For the Aggies, Washington hit a career-high with a game-best 27 point effort on 10-of-17 shooting from the field and four-of-five from the line. Washington also had four rebounds, one block and on assist. Tucked finished with a season-high 21 points, a team-high six boards, one block and one steal. Cianciulli had nine points, a game-high four assists and four rebounds. Jones also had an efficient game, making three-of-four from the field and two free-throws for eight points.
DelVal will look to get back in win column as the team travels to Frederick, MD to play Hood College Tuesday, November, 26 at 4 p.m. Â
