CENTER VALLEY (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team surrendered four second-half goals to host DeSales University and dropped the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest to the Bulldogs, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon.
It was the first conference game of the year for both squads as the Aggies fell to 1-8-1 overall and 0-1 in league play while DeSales improved to 9-2 and 1-0.
The Bulldogs held a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal in the first half and had six corner kicks while DelVal had zero, but the game remained scoreless at the break.
DeSales broke the tie just 52 seconds into the second half as Gabby Rojas blasted one from 35 yards out that went over the keeper's hands and into the net. Less than two minutes later, Tess Rodgers made it 2-0 as she placed a shot under the keeper's arms. Gabby Torchia and Mackenzie Murphy added tallies down the stretch to give the Bulldogs the 4-0 win. Katie Padgett and Sydnie Riegal each picked up one assist in the win.
Keeper
Haley Young made three saves in goal for the Aggies. DelVal will resume MAC Freedom play next Saturday when it hosts King's for a homecoming battle at approximately 7:30 p.m.
