CENTER VALLEY (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team opened Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play at DeSales University on Saturday evening, and despite scoring first, the Aggies dropped a 3-1 decision to the home team.
DelVal ((4-6-1, 0-1 MAC FREEDOM) had three shots on goal in the first stanza and broke the scoreless tie in the 33rd minute as freshman
Dan Arone picked up his first collegiate goal when he finished off a pass from
Dan Marcolongo. The Bulldogs ( 4-7-1, 1-0 MAC FREEDOM) had two shots on goal and six corner kicks in the first half, but could not tie the score.
The home team came alive in the second with three goals in a span of 13:15 to take a 3-0 lead. Sinan Yuskel got the scoring started as he capitalized on a rebound opportunity and Giuseppe Natale put a header home just 4:18 later to give DeSales the 2-1 lead. Sean Murray capped the scoring as he hammered home a cross from Dimeji Oyinkolade for the 3-1 final.
Josh Jarrett made seven saves in goal for DelVal in the loss and Arone led the team with three shot attempts.
