DALLAS (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team surrendered three goals in a span of two minutes, 29 seconds of game time as host Misericordia University earned a 3-0 win to remain undefeated in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom.
The Cougars are 2-0-2 in league games and 5-5-4 overall while the Aggies fell to 5-9-1 and 0-4.
The team's played an even first half and each had two shots on goal through the first 44 minutes until Misericordia broke through in the final ticks before the break. Off a corner kick, Alexei King sent the ball into the box and Bryson Smith rose up to get a head on it and put it into the net for a 1-0 lead in the 45
th minute.
Out of the break, the Cougars scored twice in a span of 35 seconds to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Ethan Benedict collected a loose ball in the box and slotted it inside the left post for the first tally, and Jared Houser buried a rebound opportunity after a diving save for the 3-0 lead.
DelVal had five shots in the second half, but just one on target and one corner kick as it could not muster the comeback.
Dominic Pizzi earned the shutout in goal for the Cougars with four saves and
Shay McAnee made three saves at the other end for the Aggies.
Austin Daniels led the team with four shots and two on goal.
