DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team hosted defending Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom champion Eastern University on a very wet and rainy Wednesday night, and the visiting team left with a 3-0 victory.
The Eagles, who went a perfect 7-0 in league play last season and advanced to the sweet sixteen of the NCAA tournament, improved to 3-0 in MAC Freedom play and 7-7-1 overall.
The rain was heavy at the start of the game and only got worse as the contest wore on. Eastern had seven shots on goal in the first half and scored twice. Derek Buhrman picked up both tallies for the Eagles as he was able to sneak behind the defense and beat the keeper one-on-one each time. Julio Ardon and Sam Sutherland picked up the assists as the visitors took the 2-0 lead into the break.
Eastern added another in the 59
th minute of the second half as Nik Kokolios cashed in an unassisted tally to make it 3-0.
The Aggies finished with one corner attempt and one shot in the game.
